Former Real Madrid star, Joselu has said that Kylian Mbappe could only try to match the records set by Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid, but insisted that the Portuguese remains the club’s greatest of all time.
Ronaldo was legendary for Real Madrid in his nine years at Santiago Bernabeu, scoring 450 goals in his nine-year stint. He’s their all-time top scorer.
Mbappe left Paris Saint-Germain to join Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer.
The 2018 World Cup winner was PSG’s all-time top scorer, bagging 256 goals and 108 assists in 308 games.
However, Joselu believes that the 25-year-old can only hope to achieve the numbers Ronaldo achieved at the club.
He told Mundo Deportivo via Madrid Universal: “Cristiano has been the ‘GOAT’ of Real Madrid, the top scorer in the history of the club.
“Mbappe’s goal will be to make similar numbers but Cristiano is the best striker who has passed through Real Madrid.”
The Frenchman has played 887 minutes so far and scored seven goals, while setting up one in 11 games across competitions.
