Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has named Kylian Mbappé the best striker in the world at the moment.

This follows the Frenchman’s display in Real Madrid’s emphatic 4-1 win over Las Palmas in La Liga on Sunday.

The former Paris Saint-Germain man netted twice in the match, and his manager declared him the best centre-forward in the world.

Los Blancos are now at the top of the La Liga table following slip-ups by Atletico Madrid (who lost 1-0 to Leganés) and Barcelona (who drew 1-1 with Getafe) in their respective league games over the weekend.

Fábio Silva put the visitors in front just 23 seconds into the game, but Los Blancos took control from that point, and it paid off in the 18th minute when Mbappé netted from the penalty spot after Sandro Ramírez fouled Rodrygo in the 18-yard box.

Brahim Díaz made it 2-1 for the home side, scoring from close range, while Mbappé doubled his tally and added a third for Los Blancos in the 36th minute.

Rodrygo added a fourth in the 57th minute, and the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.

Mbappé earned his first-ever perfect 10 in a Real Madrid shirt. According to Sofascore’s rating, he was also named the Player of the Match.

Speaking after the game, Ancelotti was effusive in his praise for the former Monaco forward.

“Mbappé’s great form is helping us a lot. Our work today was very good. We managed to get the right balance to handle both the good moments and the difficult ones.

“He’s the best centre-forward in the world. We could put him on the left wing, but he’s a great striker, and he’s very comfortable through the middle rather than on the wing.

“He has a unique ability to lose his marker, and in central areas, he can make the most of it.”

In 18 games, the France national team captain has recorded 12 goals, four behind Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, who has scored 16 times in 19 games.
