The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has vowed that it will achieve a two million barrels per day crude production target by the end of December 2024.
The state-owned oil firm disclosed this in a statement by its spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye while announcing that it achieved 1.8 mbpd crude production and 7.4 billion standard cubic feet (bscf) of gas in November 2024.
The Chief War Room Coordinator of Production War Room and Senior Business Adviser to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Lawal Musa, said he was confident that the country can achieve the 2MBPD feat by the year’s end.
“We are confident that with this same momentum and with the active collaboration of all stakeholders, especially on the security front, we can see the possibility of getting to 2MBPD by the end of the year,” he stated.
On his part, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, lauded the Production War Room Team that anchored Nigeria’s crude production recovery process.
“The team has done a great job in driving this project of not just production recovery but also escalating production to expected levels that are in the short and long terms acceptable to our shareholders based on the mandates that we have from the President, the Honourable Minister, and the Board,” Kyari explained.
Recall that on Wednesday, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, in his speech at the Comptroller General of Customs Conference in Abuja, attributed peace in the Niger Delta region to a rise in crude oil production in the last months.
