President Tinubu on Tuesday hel separate closed-door meetings with former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and former Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar at Aso Villa.Details of the meeting, however, are yet to emerge.Badaru, a former governor of Jigawa State and ex-Minister of Defence, has been in a running battle with Governor Namadi over the All Progressives Congress (APC) structure in Jigawa.This battle led to the dropping of Badaru’s nominee, Bashir Gumel, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Financial Secretary, with Governor Namadi nominating another person to take over the role.Badaru has also been rumoured to be considering a defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but the former governor has denied any plans to do so.It was gathered that Ganduje, on the other hand, is expected to remain in the APC, as the former governor and former APC National Chairman has no plans to defect to the ADC coalition.Ganduje is also expected to nominate the next deputy governor of Kano State following the resignation of Aminu Gwarzo, with his preferred candidate rumoured to be Murtala Garo. However, there are reports that the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibrin Fagge, might also be interested in the seat.
