Two people lost their lives on Saturday following a head-on collision between a bus and a truck along the Ososa section of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway in Ogun State.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

He said a total of 21 people were involved in the crash, which involved a yellow Toyota Hiace bus (registration BDG 274YG) and a blue Benz truck (registration AKD 115YL).

According to Akinbiyi, the bus was reportedly driving against traffic when it collided with the truck.

Several other passengers sustained injuries, though the exact number has not been specified.

“The fatal accident occurred at Ososa slope, inbound to Sagamu from Ijebu-Ode. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was driving against traffic when it collided head-on with the truck,” Akinbiyi said.

The deceased were taken to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital morgue, while the injured victims received treatment at the same facility.

The vehicles involved in the crash were removed from the roadway and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Obalende Division, Ijebu-Ode, for further investigation.
