Following Victor Osimhen’s transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray, a former midfielder of the Turkish club, Taylan Antalyalı, said he was surprised by the move.
He never expected the Nigerian international to choose a move to Turkey over the likes of Premier League giants Chelsea.
Urban Express News reports that Osimhen is now a Galatasaray player despite strong interest from Chelsea last summer.
Many had expected clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester United to pursue the player this summer, but the Nigerian, according to reports, wanted to remain in Turkey.
Chelsea could not meet the player’s demands last season, leading to the collapse of the deal.
This opened the door for Galatasaray to make a stunning move for the player.
Osimhen is currently at Galatasaray, where he is putting the finishing touches on his transfer to the Turkish top flight.
His permanent move is regarded as a major coup for Galatasaray, where he spent last season on loan.
“I was surprised by Victor Osimhen’s arrival last season. I think it was incredible that Osimhen came to Türkiye,” Antalyalı told A Spor, via Habersarikirmizi.
