Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has said nothing was embarrassing or humiliating about Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa.

He said such moves could only help players improve themselves.

Rashford secured a six-month loan move to Premier League rivals Aston Villa after the manager made it clear he was not part of his plans.

Unai Emery’s side will cover at least 75% of Rashford’s £365,000-a-week wage and have an option to purchase him for £40 million in the summer.

Speaking after the Red Devils were beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace, Amorim was asked if sending the Englishman on loan to a club higher up in the table was embarrassing.

“It’s not embarrassing. When you loan a player—and I don’t know, I think it’s not official—when you loan a player, you expect him to play and to improve, so nothing is humiliating there.

“I understand the question, but I’m just focused on my players, that’s all. So when the window closes, I will be focused on just our team and improving our team.”

He also spoke about Rashford’s departure influencing winter business, adding: “We will see. There is one more day; let’s wait until the window is closed.”
