A house owner in the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos has been arrested for illegally converting his residential building into an abattoir.

The man was arrested at No. 12 Alfred Williams Street, where authorities discovered unhygienic slaughtering activities taking place within the home, posing serious health and environmental risks.

Acting on a tip-off from a concerned resident, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, entered the premises and promptly condemned the operation.

According to the agency, the house owner violated the state’s environmental sanitation laws and now faces appropriate sanctions in line with established regulations.

The suspect is currently in custody, and the affected property has been sealed off by the authorities.
