US President Donald Trump has claimed that with the latest tariffs, his government is standing up for US great farmers and ranchers.
Trump spoke on Wednesday during an address at the White House Rose Garden.
“With today’s actions, we’re also standing up for our great farmers and ranchers who are brutalized by nations all over the world,” Trump said.
Trump also specifically criticized the tariffs Canada has imposed on United States dairy products.
“It’s not fair to our farmers. It’s not fair to our country,” he added.
Trump also claimed that the US provides large subsidies to countries like Canada and Mexico to “keep them in business.”
