A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Akindele Ayekooto, on Wednesday said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, turned former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, into a hungry man.
Ayekooto said Wike defeated Amaechi as a sitting governor in Rivers State and minister.
He was reacting to Amaechi’s interview, where he referred to Wike as a child that he won’t like to join issues with.
Drama started when Amaechi, during his 60th birthday ceremony in Abuja, said he and Nigerians are hungry under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Faulting his remark, Wike said Amaechi was only hungry for power and not food because he doesn’t lack.
Wike also dismissed Amaechi’s claim that the former governor was his boss in politics.
Posting on his Verified Facebook page,
Ayekooto said that Wike moved Amaechi out of the Peoples Democratic Party and the APC.
He wrote: “Amaechi, how can you call the man who pursued you from PDP, pursued you from APC and pursued you from Rivers politics a child? He defeated you as a sitting governor, defeated you as a sitting minister, and turned you into a hungry man.”
Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, had said he doesn’t like to join issues with children while disclosing why he once made Wike his Chief of Staff.
The former governor said he appointed Wike his CoS because he wanted to supervise him.
He said Wike had wanted to be the state’s Commissioner for Finance, but he refused.
According to Amaechi: “I wanted him (Wike) as Chief of Staff so I could supervise him.”
