The All-Progressives Congress Youth and Students Council (KASASCO) has firmly rejected any move to facilitate the return of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso to the party, describing him as politically irrelevant and a potential disruptor of the party’s growing unity and strength.

Speaking at a press conference held at the NUJ Press Centre in Kano on Tuesday, the youth group declared that the APC in Kano does not need Kwankwaso, asserting that his political influence has waned and his return would bring no value to the party “either directly or indirectly.”

KASASCO highlighted that under the current leadership of Prince Abdullahi Abbas, the APC has regained strength in the state, boasting two senators, multiple members of the House of Representatives, and a solid representation in the Kano State House of Assembly.

The group noted that the NNPP, Kwankwaso’s party, is currently experiencing a wave of defections. Several prominent figures who once stood firmly with the Kwankwasiyya movement have now joined the APC, citing mistreatment and marginalisation. These include Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, Reps members Kabiru Alhassan Rurum and Abdullahi Sani Rogo, as well as several other political figures from the state.

“These individuals left due to unjust and imbalanced treatment after their sacrifices to the Kwankwasiyya movement,” KASASCO stated.

The group further commended the APC’s internal reconciliation efforts, expressing optimism about the party’s prospects in the 2027 general elections. They predicted that Kano will deliver over two million votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC candidates.

Labelling Kwankwaso’s attempts to rejoin the APC as a desperate bid for political refuge, the group declared: “The APC is not a refuge organisation. We are not seeking figures whose presence could threaten the party’s unity and progress.”

KASASCO also praised APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Senator Barau Jibrin for their leadership and political strategies, which they credited for absorbing 80 percent of the Kwankwasiyya movement into the APC.
