Former West Brom striker, Brown Ideye, has identified a major problem coach Eric Chelle must solve before Nigeria face Benin Republic in the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday evening
According to the former Super Eagles striker, a major challenge for Chelle at this point is to find a perfect attacking partner for Victor Osimhen.
He said this on Sunday while analysing the Super Eagles’ 2–1 victory over Lesotho on Super Sports.
The former Nigerian international wants the Malian coach to find the right attacking combination ahead of the game against Benin.
Osimhen started the game against Lesotho alongside Tolu Arokodare, and Chelle later replaced the Wolverhampton striker with Akor Adams.
It was then that the Super Eagles found the back of the net in open play as Adams combined with Osimhen to score the second goal.
Ideye pointed out that the chemistry between Osimhen and his partners is still developing.
“Osimhen for sure needs someone to play with him. Watching Tolu in the first half and Akor in the few minutes that he played, we are still looking for the balance for the partnership between any of them and Osimhen,” Ideye said.
Chelle would look for every possible means to beat Gernot Rohr’s men on Tuesday to stand any chance of making the trip to North America next year.
