President Donald Trump has warned Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about the consequences of imposing a retaliatory tariff on the United States.
Trump told Trudeau that the US would immediately increase its reciprocal tariff by the same amount in response to any retaliatory measure from Canada.
“Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a Retaliatory Tariff on the U.S., our Reciprocal Tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!” Trump posted on Truth Social on Tuesday.
The statement comes after Trudeau announced 25 per cent tariffs on United States goods in response to President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
The Prime Minister said Canada is imposing tariffs on $155 billion worth of US goods, which take effect on Tuesday. Urban Express News Online reported that Trump had signed an executive order authorizing an additional 25 per cent tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico
