Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has reflected on her nomination for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, Urban Express News Online reports.
Nnadozie is in the running for the Yacine Trophy, an award for the Best Women’s Goalkeeper.
The 24-year-old is the first African to be nominated for the award.
The shot stopper has enjoyed an outstanding year for both club and country.
Nnadozie inspired her former club, Paris FC’s Coupe de France Feminine title win over Paris Saint-Germain in May.
She made a crucial save in the 5-4 penalty shootout victory.
The Brighton & Hove star also played a crucial role in Nigeria’s successful triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Nnadozie, who was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament, kept four clean sheets in six outings.
“This nomination means a lot to me. It’s a joy for me and my family. It shows that all the hard work, consistency, and prayers have paid off,” she stated in a short video posted on Super Falcons X’s handle.
