Carlo Ancelotti, head coach of the Brazilian national team, has opted not to call up Vinicius Junior for his team’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia, respectively.
Brazil will take on both Chile and Bolivia in the World Cup qualifiers on September 5 and 10.
Vinicius is already suspended for the Chile match, and as a result, Ancelotti wants the Real Madrid winger to rest in Madrid.
Ancelotti doesn’t want the 25-year-old to travel to Bolivia for just one match.
Ancelotti’s side is in third position in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers group behind first-position Argentina and second-position Ecuador.
Brazil head to the match after beating Paraguay 1-0 in their last World Cup qualifier in June.
They will hope to beat Chile to bolster their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.
