Journalists under the platform of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State council, have appealed to the state police command to arrest and prosecute the Killers of one of their Colleagues, Ojo Peter

The union made this declaration via a statement signed by its acting Chairman, Olusola Oladapo.

The statement was made available to Urban Express News Online on Tuesday night.

Peter, a former reporter with Parrot Extra and Daily Monitor, was shot during a daylight robbery along the Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan on 18th August this year.

Our correspondent reports that this has raised a lot of questions and has been a source of worry to journalists in the state.

Oladapo in the statement, tasked the police to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the deceased.

The acting Chairman demanded a thorough investigation into the killing of the journalist.

The statement said, “The union is saddened by the news of Ojo Peter’s recent killing in Ibadan by suspected armed robbers.

“The attack occurred along the Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan, Oyo State on August 18, 2025, around 2 p.m.

“Sources said Ojo Peter was robbed of his cross bag; despite pleading to the robbers that the bag contained no money, he was still shot in the back.

“We urge the state police command to fish out the killers of the deceased journalist”
