The Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Bishop Bulus Yohanna, has shared insights into the experiences of the schoolchildren who were kidnapped from a Catholic private school in Niger State.
Speaking during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television monitored by Urban Express News, he suggested that the abduction appears to be motivated more by ransom than by any religious undertone.
“Some of the pupils who escaped during the abduction said they heard the abductors say, ‘let us take more students so we can have more money’.
“Based on this, this particular abduction appears to be more about ransom and not religion. So it is very hard to know when a blind man is sleeping.
“When someone is consistently carrying out a particular act, until you hear from him exactly what his intention is,” he said.
