The Present Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Operations in Rivers State Police Command, Olugbenga Adepoju was Part of Fifteen others who got promoted to the Rank of Commissioner of Police by the Police Service Commission while Eleven commissioners were appointed to their next Substantive rank of Assistants Inspector General of Police
The Commission, in a statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, said this development was announced at the PSC’s 2nd plenary meeting.
Ani explained that the newly promoted officers underwent rigorous written and oral examinations at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters on December 16th, as the Commission Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu, had emphasized that both written and oral examinations would henceforth be prerequisites for promotion in all cadres of the Nigeria Police Force.
The 11 Commissioners of Police promoted to Assistant Inspectors General of Police include Umar Shehu Nadada, Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State; Mustapha Mohammed Bala, Commissioner of Police, Rivers State; Abayomi Peter Oladipo, Commissioner of Police, Ondo State; Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke, Commissioner of Police, SWAT, FCID, Abuja; Ibrahim Abdullahi, mni, Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State; and Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, Commissioner of Police, PPP, DLS, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Others are Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, mni, Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State; Zubairu Abubakar, Commissioner of Police, Courses, Police Staff College, Jos; Fom Pam Joseph, psc(+), Commissioner of Police, Homicide, FCID, Abuja; Emuobo Fred Ekokotu, fdc, Commissioner of Police, Admin, Airwing, Abuja; and Garba Musa Yusuf, Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos.

He explained that DIG Taiwo Lakanu, who chaired the promotion interviews, advised the newly promoted officers to demonstrate unwavering dedication to their new roles and continue giving their best in service.
The promotion is a significant development in the Nigeria Police Force, aiming to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of its senior officers.
DIG Lakanu said they must give their best in service, adding that the Commission will continue to ensure that their promotions are timely and based on merit.
