Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd) is billed to meet the Prof. Julius Ihonvbere-led House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State today, Friday, at the National Assembly.

The administrator was scheduled to meet the Committee on Thursday, but failed to attend the meeting.

Committee members, including the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Ali Isah, were all in attendance on Thursday, but the administrator was later said to have been at the National Economic Council, NEC, meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa.

A source close to the Committee however disclosed that the meeting with Ibas was rescheduled for Friday, April 25, 2025, at the National Assembly complex.

The meeting is coming amid protests rocking Rivers, demanding the recall and restoration of the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The protest on Friday, Urban Express News Online gathered, was by hundreds of women from the Opobo Kingdom.

Chanting solidarity songs, the protesters called on President Bola Tinubu to reinstate Fubara, end the state of emergency and sack Ibas from administering the state.

President of the Opobo Women Association, Madam Felicia Pepple, offered prayers for peace in Rivers State and for the reinstatement of Siminalayi Fubara at the King Jaja Monument Square.

The women wore black attire, depicting mourning over the situation in Rivers.

A cleric, Venerable Michael Dappa, delivered a sermon that inspired the protesters.

The women then marched to the Water Side, chanting, “Bring back our Governor,” and sat on the ground in protest.

Pepple declared as unconstitutional the situation in Rivers while pleading with President Tinubu to recall the ⁸governor without delay.
