Bayern Munich became the second team to book their spot in the Round of 16 of the ongoing Club World Cup in the United States.

The Bundesliga champions beat a resilient Boca Juniors side 2-1 in the early hours of Saturday to confirm qualification.

In their first game of the tournament, Vincent Kompany’s men had thrashed Auckland City 10-0.

Against Boca, Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 18th minute, but Miguel Merential provided a moment of magic to make it 1-1 in the 66th minute.

Michael Olise, who is one of the top scorers so far, ensured Bayern took all three points.

A point for them in the final group game against Benfica will guarantee top spot and a possible last-16 meeting with Chelsea – if the Blues progress in second place.

The first team to progress into the knockouts was Flamengo, who came from behind to defeat Chelsea 3-1 on Friday night.
