Manchester United have been urged to sell their captain, Bruno Fernandes, in January.
Former United man, Paul Parker, urged the Red Devils to allow the Portuguese to leave Old Trafford, insisting the midfielder is now a big problem for the team.
According to him, while Red Devils’ boss, Ruben Amorim, is seeing the midfielder as a saviour, the player is contributing just too little and does not suit the current style of football.
He believes the door should be thrown wide open for Fernandes to leave when the January transfer window opens.
Clubs from Saudi Arabia came for Fernandes in the summer, but he rejected the move, opting to remain at Old Trafford.
One of those clubs was reportedly willing to pay United £100m in August, but the offer was rejected.
However, Parker feels Fernandes is not a good fit in the current system and should be replaced by Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba
“I think Bruno in this team is a square peg trying to get into a round hole,’ Parker told Mybettingsites. “It’s a big problem.
“The manager is treating Bruno like a man in a cape who will save Manchester United, but is it to the detriment of United that Bruno is playing?
“Can United get to where they need to be with Bruno? My answer is no. Kobbie Mainoo is the future.
“United need legs in the midfield. I want Kobbie with Carlos Baleba. Two good footballers.”
Bruno Fernandes would hope to continue in his position as Manchester United hosts Chelsea in the Premier League at the weekend.
