Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has admitted he must start winning games to retain the backing of the club’s hierarchy and save his job.

Newly-appointed United CEO, Omar Berrada, came out publicly to back Ten Hag following back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Liverpool.

The defeats leave the Red Devils in 14th place ahead of their trip to Southampton at lunchtime on Saturday.

It is a game Ten Hag cannot afford to lose, with the pressure already building on the Dutchman just three games into the new season.

“In football you have to win, you have to deliver, that’s clear,” Ten Hag said.

“It’s good that the new leadership acknowledges this and says this. We are working together to be more successful and we have higher targets than we’ve already achieved.”
