Olusegun Ariyo

A bandit attack on the Bajat and Dole villages in the Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State has resulted in the death of a vigilante commander, with several others sustaining injuries.

This was made known by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, in a post on his X handle.

Makama said he was informed by intelligence sources that the bandits stormed the area around 6 p.m. and began shooting sporadically.

According to the report, Nura Baushe, a vigilante commander, was tragically killed in the attack.

Other victims, including Amadu Dole, Surajo Shehu, and Shafiu Sulaiman, sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds and were rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, for medical treatment.

The security expert stated that normalcy has been restored in the area following the deployment of security personnel.
