The North Central APC Elders Forum has said the dissolution and constitution of the Caretaker Committee in Benue has restored peace to both the party and governance in the state.
The National Working Committee, NWC of the All-Progressives Congress, Wednesday sacked the leader of the party in the state, Augustine Agada.
The national leadership of the party also recently sacked the State Working Committee exco despite a Benue State High Court restraining the party from dissolving the Augustine Agada-led exco.
The national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje announced the dissolution and also inaugurated a seven-man caretaker committee at the party’s National Secretariat. The committee would serve for six months.
However, the Chairman, North Central APC Elders Forum and former President of the Senate, Senator Ameh Ebute, in a statement issued Monday also commended the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule for his role in restoring peace to the APC in the region.
The forum opined that Sule’s recent courtesy visit to Ganduje in Abuja to discuss the interest of the North Central Geo-political zone was a step in the right direction.
It further described the governor’s visit as a rightful intervention in discussing the interest of the elders of the party in the zone.
It added: “We are happy that Governor Sule is leading the North Central geo-political zone to reposition the party for maximum performance.
“The dissolution and constitution of the Caretaker Committee in Benue has restored peace to both the party and governance in the State.”
While applauding the Ganduje-led National Working Committee for the establishment of the National Progressives Institute, the Forum tasked the chairman to include the North Central zone in the leadership of the Institute which is about to be unveiled by the party.
