Police in Jigawa State have arrested an 18-year-old boy, Khamisu Ibrahim, over the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl in Malam Madori Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesman for the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to Urban Express News Online
He said the incident occurred on Tuesday in Garin Malam Sanda village, Malam Madori Local Government Area.
According to the statement: “On Tuesday at about 10:15 hrs, one Suleiman Bashari of Garin Malam Sanda village, M/Madori LGA, reported at M/Madori Division that, on Monday at about 20:10 hrs, one Khamisu Ibrahim of the same address had carnal knowledge of his three-year-old niece.”
DSP Shiisu said that upon receiving the report, detectives attached to M/Madori Division swiftly took action and succeeded in arresting the suspect.
He said the victim was taken to the Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Dutse for a medical examination.
The police spokesman stated that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the offense.
He added that the suspect would be taken to court for prosecution.
