A former Secretary to the Osun State Government during the administration of Rauf Aregbesola, Moshood Adeoti, has formally withdrawn his membership from the Omoluabi Progressives.Adeoti, who was an ally of Aregbesola before this latest decision, also served as the Deputy Leader of the Omoluabi Progressives in Osun State. In a personally signed letter circulating on Social Media on Sunday and addressed to the group’s chairman, Adeoti said he was stepping away from the organisation he helped to establish alongside other progressive-minded individuals across the state. He added that his withdrawal covered both his membership and participation in all activities of the Omoluabi Progressives.Adeoti described the decision as a difficult one, noting the personal and political investments he had made in the group since its inception. He explained that family considerations played a role in his decision to step aside.“My decision to withdraw was never an easy one. I had consistently worked to ensure the organisation’s survival during challenging periods.“Pressure from my family members, both immediate and extended, prompted the need to take an immediate short rest from all political activities,” he said. His letter also expressed appreciation to members of the Omoluabi Progressives for the trust and confidence reposed in him over the years. He conveyed gratitude as well to colleagues who had worked with him during his time in the organisation.Adeoti noted that the group “had experienced turbulent phases since its creation. I remain proud of the collective efforts that sustained it.”He emphasised his hope that the current leadership would successfully steer the organisation into the future.“I want to specially thank everyone of my fellow progressives and wish the current leadership success in all the group’s future endeavours,” he concluded.Urban Express News findings, however, revealed that his resignation from the group may not be unconnected with his inability to secure the governorship ticket of the Action Democratic Congress, ADC, in the state, as preparations intensify for the 2026 governorship election in Osun State. The Omoluabi Progressives is a bloc within the ADC in Osun State, and its leader is, incidentally, Rauf Aregbesola, who serves as the Secretary of the ADC.
