A Nigerian, Magnus Ukadike, has won a municipal election in Brazil, making history as the first Nigerian to contest unopposed and win an election in the South American country.

Urban Express News Online learnt that Ukadike was Director General of the ‘Obidient Movement’ in Brazil during Nigeria’s 2023 general elections.

This was made known by a Catholic missionary priest working in Brazil, Rev Fr Chinaka Justin Mbaeri, in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

“History has been made! Magnus Nnachebe Ukadike, widely known as Magnus of Africa, has shattered records, becoming the first Nigerian to contest unopposed and win a municipal election in Brazil!” Mbaeri wrote.

The Catholic cleric stated that Ukadike was officially inaugurated as councillor in the Municipal Participatory Council of Itaquera Subprefeitura.

Mbaeri added that he will represent the entire immigrant community in São Paulo at the Subprefeitura level.

“Magnus is not only a political trailblazer, but also a devoted member and Media Director of St. Josephine Bakhita Chaplaincy (African Catholic Community), where I serve as Chaplain. He sought God’s guidance before stepping into this historic moment. He came to the Chaplaincy for prayers and blessings, and together, we entrusted his journey into the hands of God while encouraging our members to support him.

“I dare to say that Magnus’ victory testifies to years of hard work and community service. Known for his leadership as Director General of the Obidient Movement in Brazil during Nigeria’s 2023 general elections, he has proven himself a bridge-builder between Nigeria and Brazil, fostering development and representation for Africans in the diaspora,” Mbaeri added.
