More Suspects Arrested Over Killings of Lagos Monarch’s Son As Police Says it won’t Relent Getting Justice

Lagos State Police Command has apprehended more suspects in connection with the murder of Prince Ademola Akinloye, the son of the Ajiran of Agungi, Oba Tijani Akinloye, says it won’t relent in getting justice Prince Akinloye was reportedly shot and brutally attacked by gunmen on August 26, 2024, along Chevron Drive near Ebeano Supermarket in the Agungi area of Lagos.Following the incident, nine individuals were initially arrested after police investigations and intelligence gathering linked them to the killing.Police authorities also revealed that some of the suspects are connected to the earlier murder of Sheriff Salami, which occurred on April 18, 2023, in the Moba community in Ajah.Providing an update on the case, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed during a meeting with journalists at the Officers’ Mess in Ikeja that additional suspects had recently been taken into custody.Although he did not state the exact number of new arrests, Jimoh said the suspects had made voluntary confessional statements detailing their alleged involvement in the crime.According to the police chief, the command remains committed to fully uncovering the circumstances surrounding the killing.“In the course of the investigation, we have apprehended more suspects who have voluntarily confessed to the roles they played in the crime,” Jimoh said.He added that security operatives are still searching for the principal suspect, Ahmad Akanbi, who had earlier been declared wanted in connection with the incident.“We are still pursuing him and have not relented in our efforts.
