Paternity Dispute, Alleged Killing of Nursing Mother -Man Arrested In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man identified as Sahabi Rabi’u for allegedly killing a nursing mother and her 10-month-old baby in Sheme village, Faskari Local Government Area.Police spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the arrest in a statement, which revealed the suspect confessed to committing the crime alongside an accomplice who is currently on the run.According to the police, Rabi’u lured the 30-year-old woman and her infant to the outskirts of Sheme village, where they were brutally murdered. The suspect allegedly burned both bodies and dumped the remains inside a well.Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack stemmed from a dispute over the paternity of the child. The bodies of the victims have been recovered “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice,” the statement said.Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, condemned the incident as “barbaric and inhumane.”

Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, condemned the incident as “barbaric and inhumane.”

 He called on residents to provide credible information that could help in arresting the second suspect, pledging that all information shared would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
