The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the dismissal of one Inspector Edith Uduma for exposing Sgt. Abraham Uzuobo in a viral video.

Urban Express News Online recalls that Sgt Abraham Uzuobo, an officer attached to Edo State Command, was in the news about three weeks ago after he allegedly raped a minor detained at South-Ibie Police Division.

Uzuobo was subsequently dismissed from the Force after investigations.

Giving an update on the matter, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Moses Yamu said in a statement that two other officers have been subjected to punishment.

He said a female officer, Edith Uduma, who recorded the viral video, took advantage of the situation to enrich herself by demanding N1 million from Uzuobo.

The Command’s spokesperson revealed that the female officer made the move in collaboration with her husband, one Insp. Ibrahim Mohammed.

According to the statement, the Sergeant offered only N45,000 to them but they were dissatisfied with the offer.

The PPRO said Edith and her husband subsequently decided to report the erring officer to the DPO and also share the video on social media.

“Following these events, an orderly room trial was initiated against all the officers, which led to the dismissal of Sgt. Abraham and Insp Edith Uduma.

“Her husband, Insp. Ibrahim Mohammed, however, was reduced to the rank of Sergeant for getting criminally involved in demanding money to conceal such a gross violation of the Standard Operating Procedure of the Nigeria Police.“To this end, the Edo State Police Command warns that no amount of propaganda, disinformation or misinformation can absolve her or the husband from facing the punishment meted out to them,” the Police spokesman stated
