Nigerian Army troops have launched a series of successful offensives against terrorist strongholds in Borno State, significantly weakening their operations. The operations, which took place in Bama, Gwoza, Chibok, and other communities, resulted in the elimination of several terrorists, including a notorious commander, Abba Alai, also known as Amirul Khahid of Alafa.

He had been a high-value target on security watchlists. During the operation, troops also rescued an elderly woman who had been held captive by the terrorists for ten years and dismantled explosives planted along their route. A large cache of deadly weapons was also recovered.

In Katsina State, an attempted terrorist attack was repelled by troops, who overpowered the assailants with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the forest. A high-ranking terrorist commander in Jibia Local Government Area later surrendered to security forces, handing over two AK-47 rifles. In addition, he released ten captives, including seven women and three children.

In Zamfara State, troops engaged another group of terrorists, killing one while the others escaped, abandoning two motorcycles in the process.

Meanwhile, in Niger State, security forces battled terrorists in the Dakwala and Chikuba areas, compelling them to retreat into the dense forest. Following this, troops carried out clearance operations, demolishing terrorist hideouts and recovering 36 abandoned motorcycles.

Elsewhere, in Kwara State, troops raided a known kidnappers’ hideout in Karunji village. Upon sighting the advancing forces, the criminals fled, leaving their captives behind.

In Delta State, a high-profile IPOB/ESN commander, Ekene Ifeanyi, was arrested in his hideout within Issele Asagba Forest in Oshimili South Local Government Area. He was identified as a key figure in setting up IPOB/ESN terrorist cells in the region.

Following these successful operations, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, commended the troops for their resilience. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring their welfare remains a priority, acknowledging their dedication and selfless service to the country.
