Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has spoken highly of the club’s newest signing, Piero Hincapie.
According to him, the player would make his team ‘stronger and more competitive’ this season.
Arteta backed the signing of the Ecuadorian on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen.
Arsenal also have an option to buy the player for £45 million
The 23-year-old recorded 166 appearances for Leverkusen, helping them to win the Bundesliga title in 2023-24.
Arsenal hijacked the deal from Tottenham, who were leading the race to sign him.
Hincapie has been given the No. 5 shirt at the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta welcomed the football star to the club and hoped he would make the team thick.
“He is a big character, with a very good combination of both youth and maturity,” he told the club’s website.
“He will make our squad stronger and more competitive as we continue into this season. We welcome Piero and his family to Arsenal.”
The Gunners were beaten for the first time this season by Liverpool on Sunday.
