Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has named Chelsea legend Didier Drogba as a better striker than his former teammate Wayne Rooney.
In an interview with Goal, Berbatov was asked to compare several top strikers from his active playing days.
The former Bulgaria international made some interesting selections, as reported by TBR Football.
Berbatov himself won the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2010–11 season and was regarded by many football lovers as one of the most technically gifted strikers of his era.
The Bulgarian was one of the Red Devils’ key players under legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson from 2008 to 2012.
He shared the attacking role with Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, and others.
However, he believes that former Ivorian striker Drogba was better than Rooney when asked to choose between the two.
DAILY POST reported that during a quickfire segment, Berbatov also picked Dutch legend Marco van Basten over Ronaldo.
He ultimately named former Brazilian superstar Ronaldo (commonly known as “R9”) as the best striker among all the names he was asked to choose from.
Berbatov and Rooney played 99 times together for Manchester United and combined for 12 joint goal contributions.
During that period, they won six trophies together, including two Premier League titles.
Meanwhile, Rooney is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to have graced the Premier League.
He played 559 games for the Red Devils, scoring 253 goals and providing 138 assists.
Drogba, on the other hand, made 381 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 164 goals and delivering 78 assists, while winning 14 trophies.
