The Lagos State House of Assembly has stepped down the confirmation of the nominee for the position of General Manager of Lagos Parking Authority, LASPA, Mrs Adebisi Adelabu.
The lawmakers declined to confirm her nomination due to what they described as serious procedural breaches linked to her earlier tenure.
The lawmakers disclosed their decision in a statement made available to Urban Express News after their plenary held on Thursday.
At the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, the lawmakers questioned Adelabu for having occupied the office of General Manager of LASPA since 2021 without ever submitting herself to the constitutionally required screening process.
The lawmakers described this as illegal and unconstitutional.
They also described her prolonged, unapproved stay in office as a clear violation of legislative authority.
The lawmakers, despite the rejection of Adelabu’s nomination, confirmed the nomination of other nominees.
The House screened and confirmed Mr Kehinde Durosinmi‑Etti as Chairman of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
Other nominees screened and confirmed by the lawmakers are: Engr. Olopade Adekunle, Barr. Temitope George, Mr Alexander Akinwunmi, Mr Falola Olakunle and Mr Bello Wasiu Oladimeji.
They are to occupy various leadership and membership roles within the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
