The Niger State Police Command arrested 24 suspected criminals during raids conducted to crack down on known criminal hideouts in Minna.

A statement signed by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed that the arrest was conducted in a coordinated operation led by Commissioner of Police Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, on July 30, between 3:00 a.m. and 5.30 a.m., at several locations around Unguwan-Roka, Kwari-Berger, Flamingo and Tudun Wada, respectively within the Maitumbi axis.

The statement identified those detained as Abubakar Nura (23), Auwal Mohammed (20), Suleiman Hassan (21), Alhassan Mohammed (19), and Usman Abubakar Bahaho (18). Police also recovered a pump action gun with cartridges, cutlasses, a pair of scissors and suspected illegal substance.

In another raid, two members of a gang were arrested while trying to flee from a shop owned by a suspected gang leader. A total of eleven more suspects were also arrested in separate incidents.

The Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain calm and assured them that the command remains committed to tackling crimes and safeguarding communities.
