Arsenal legend Ian Wright has criticised former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim for how he handled midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
He said their recent games while Michael Carrick was in charge have ’embarrassed’ the Portuguese manager.
The Red Devils defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday, and Mainoo started again for the fourth time in a row and played well.
He has played in every game under Carrick but did not manage to start in the Premier League under Amorim this season.
After Manchester United’s 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal legend Ian Wright said as quoted by Metro, “This is the quality of Kobbie Mainoo, and we saw that when he joined the England team.
“He played in the Euros at 18, and we know the quality he has. Everyone was puzzled about what was going on with Ruben Amorim.
“When you look at him, someone who hasn’t played much, joining a Man United team that’s not doing well, to play in that midfield which has been the main topic of discussion… it’s just about the level of skill.
“I think it’s really embarrassing for Ruben Amorim, if we’re totally honest. What we’re seeing now is a young player from Manchester United’s youth team who hasn’t had a chance to play much and is really close to leaving the club.”
“He was really amazing today, absolutely outstanding,” he added.
