In a major political shift in Niger State, no fewer than 4,100 people from various parties have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Bosso Local Government Area of the state.

Welcoming them at the ADC Secretariat in Bosso, State Chairman Hon. Musa Hassan urged the new members to work tirelessly toward unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

He described the turnout as a clear sign of growing dissatisfaction with the APC-led administration’s failure to deliver on its promises to the electorate in the state.

The event also marked the opening of the ADC Bosso Local Government Secretariat in Maikunkele.

Hon. Hassan encouraged defectors to complete their party registration and participate in the ongoing INEC voter registration exercise,  stressing that voter cards are essential for fulfilling civic responsibilities.

He particularly urged youths to obtain their cards ahead of the elections.

Bosso ADC Chairman, Hon. Mallam Umaru Usman Maikunkele, noted that among the defectors are ten ward councillors who previously contested APC primaries, adding that more defections are expected to join the party.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Abubakar Popoi cited irregularities in APC primaries as the reason for their switch, pledging to work for ADC’s victory in 2027 in the state.
