Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland has explained why he signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
Haaland’s current deal with Man City was due to expire in June 2027.
However, City opted to hand him a new deal that would run out when Haaland is 34.
Speaking ahead of Man City’s Premier League tie with Ipswich Town on Sunday, the Norway international, who has been long linked with Real Madrid, said it was an ‘easy decision’ to extend his stay with Pep Guardiola’s side.
Explaining the reasoning behind signing a new contract, Haaland told the club’s website: “Having spoken with the people I spoke with, the hungriness, the support I have been getting over the last couple of years from the board, all the bosses and from Pep, in the end, it was an easy decision and I’m delighted.
“I’m going to stay for a long time so now I can fully focus on getting better, continuing to perform and giving the fans what they want.”
Haaland joined Man City from Borussia Dortmund for £51m in 2022.
The 24-year-old has scored a remarkable 111 goals in 126 games for the Premier League champions.
He has already won two Premier League titles as well as an FA Cup and Champions League during his time at the Etihad.
