Chijoke Ihunwo, the former Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, has accused President Bola Tinubu of acting in bad faith by declaring a state of emergency in the state.

Ihunwo anchored his claims on the fact that Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State is a very peaceful man.

Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show and that which is being monitored by Urban Express News Online, the former chairman insisted that there is no war in the state, adding that Fubara has no link to militants.

According to Ihunwo, Fubara has obeyed the Supreme Court judgment.

He said: “There is no war in Rivers State. The issue of pipeline vandalization is not true; the company has come to say that nothing like that happened.

“So for me, Mr. President acted in error by declaring a state of emergency in our state. Our governor is a very peaceful man, and Nigerians are watching what Mr. President is doing.

“Our governor is a man of peace and has no link to any militancy group. Fubara has obeyed the Supreme Court judgment.”

The political crisis in Rivers State led to Tinubu declaring a state of emergency and suspending Governor Sim Fubara for six months.

Tinubu also suspended the Rivers State deputy governor and all members of the state House of Assembly.

His action was an offshoot of the crisis between Wike and Fubara.

The crisis led to the emergence of a parallel Assembly, with 27 members under the leadership of Martins Amaewhule initially claiming to have defected from the People’s Democratic Party to the All-Progressives Congress.

However, the Supreme Court ordered their reinstatement and directed Fubara to present the 2025 budget.

Following the ruling, Fubara attempted to present the budget but was prevented from accessing the complex by Amaewhule’s Assembly.
