Argentine player Angel Di Maria has talked about the rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in today’s football world.
The Rosario Central forward has played with both of them when they were at their best, and he really knows them well.
Di Maria talked to AS from his location in Argentina about several things, including his thoughts on both Messi and Ronaldo.
The 37-year-old was asked if the Portuguese superstar made an impression on him because of his famous work ethic and dedication.
He said yes, adding that when it comes to professionalism and hard work, Ronaldo is the best in the world of football.
“Yes. In terms of professionalism, Cris is definitely number one. His work ethic, his ability to stay at the top, and his constant drive to be the best while facing off against Leo were truly admirable. But he was part of Messi’s time, which made things much more difficult for him.
“Cris was all about hard work and trying his best to be number one, but Messi, who would drink mate in the locker room, proved he had a special talent from God to be the best,” he said.
Cristiano Ronaldo is often praised for how long he has stayed at the top of his game and the high level he has maintained, which is because of the hard work and commitment he has shown all through his career.
He is close to his 41st birthday, and he is tied for the top goal scorer in the Saudi Pro League this season with 16 goals in 16 games for Al-Nassr.
