New Al-Hilal striker, Karim Benzema, has sent a message to the Al-Ittihad fans after he joined their Saudi Pro League rivals.

The Frenchman joined the league leaders after declining contract offers from Al-Ittihad, choosing to stay in Saudi Arabia.

Benzema used his social media to say goodbye to Al-Ittihad fans after spending two-and-a-half seasons with the club.

He thanked the parties involved in his spell at the club and stated that he was proud to have played for the club.

“This chapter concludes, but the respect and gratitude will remain forever. Thank you to the club, the staff, my teammates, and especially the fans for the welcome, the love, and the energy you gave me every day.

“This journey provided me with many benefits, both personally and professionally. I leave with my head held high, proud to have worn these colours and proud of everything we shared.

“The growth in followers, reaching 7,000, is a testament to the effectiveness of the leadership approach and the positive impact it has had on the community. Wishing you all the best for what’s ahead. Respect. KB9”, he posted on X.

Benzema joined Al-Ittihad in the 2023 summer transfer window after ending his successful years with Real Madrid. Alongside players like N’Golo Kante and Fabinho, the striker led his team to win the Saudi Pro League title in the 2024-25 season.

Karim Benzema has played 21 matches for Al-Ittihad this season in all competitions and has scored 16 goals at the age of 38.

The club offered the former Real Madrid player a new contract, but he felt the offer was disrespectful and refused it, leading him to join Al-Hilal as a free agent.
