Chelsea have experienced a blow in their pursuit of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato this summer transfer window.
This comes after Ajax demanded a £52m transfer fee from the Blues for Hato.
Chelsea are keen to secure a deal for the 19-year-old star before the 2025/26 Premier League season starts.
Hato has already told Ajax of his desire to leave the club this summer and was left out of their squad that defeated Celtic in a pre-season friendly on Thursday.
The Netherlands international has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, but the Premier League west London club are yet to reach an agreement with Ajax over a transfer fee for Hato.
However, according to De Telegraaf, Ajax are targeting a transfer fee of between £47.7m and £52m for Hato.
