Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle, has once again expressed regret with his team’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, DAILY POST reports.
Chelle also apologised for his team’s failure to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria won’t be part of the party at the 2026 World Cup finals, which will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the USA next month.
The Super Eagles lost to the Democratic Republic of Congo 4-3 on penalties in the final of the African playoffs.
Chelle’s men also fell short in the AFCON 2025 finals in Morocco earlier in the year.
The three-time champions finished third in the competition.
The Super Eagles, however, successfully defended their Unity Cup title after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Jamaica at the Valley, London, on Saturday night.https://urbanexpresslive.com/davido-withdraws-loses-legal-custody-fight-for-daughter/
Speaking after the game, Chelle thanked Nigerians for their support of him and the team.
“I want to say once again sorry we didn’t go to the World Cup, this is my feeling, sorry we didn’t win the AFCON. I tried to do my job, the 48-year-old stated.https://urbanexpresslive.com/ucl-youre-weak-for-covering-your-mouth-with-a-shirt-vinicius-slams-prestianni-over-racist-comment/
“I want to say thank you for all the support that was put into the team, and once again, I will give everything to this national team.”
