Gubernatorial candidates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in 2023 have unanimously endorsed the party’s leadership transition.

The former candidates, in a press briefing addressed on their behalf by the Benue State gubernatorial candidate in 2023, Engr Terhemen Tilley-Gyado, also called on their coalition partners to follow due process.

The former candidates, as critical stakeholders of the party, said it became necessary to address the Nigerian public on recent developments within the ADC.

The ex-governorship candidates said they appreciate the former national chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, who voluntarily left the position.

According to them, it was in line with the party’s constitution that the deputy National Chairman, Hon Nafiu Bala, holds the position in acting capacity pending when a new Chairman is elected.

They believe that this would ensure stability and continuity within the ADC, as they insist that no non-members would be allowed to hold any position in the party.

Advising coalition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, Chibuike Amaechi, Peter Obi, David Mark, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Abubakar Malami SAN, and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, among others, the former governorship candidates emphasised the need for strict adherence to due process.

They urged them to take the necessary steps of formally resigning from their previous political parties and registering as bona fide members of the ADC at their respective Ward levels.
