Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have dealt a major blow to banditry in Katsina State, eliminating two notorious bandit leaders, Yusuf Gwamna and Malam Ashiru, in a high-stakes ambush in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, a joint security task force comprising the military, police, and other agencies launched the late-night operation on Friday, engaging the criminals in a fierce gun battle. Several bandits were neutralized in the process.
A security source confirmed to Zagazola Makama that the slain bandit commanders were key masterminds behind deadly attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling across Dutsin-Ma, Danmusa, and Matazu LGAs.
“This is a significant breakthrough in our mission to eradicate banditry in Katsina. These individuals had long been on our radar, and their elimination will cripple the operational strength of their gang,” the source said.
Security forces have intensified clearance operations in the area, hunting down fleeing bandits and fortifying communities against further attacks.
